Residents are being asked for their views on plans to revamp Southfields Park in Loughborough.

The work will be commissioned by Charnwood Borough Council and could include new fitness and play equipment, footpaths and better access to the park.

It will cost around £210,000 and work is due to be completed by the Autumn.

Councillor Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough said: “I’m very pleased that we’re making these improvements to Southfields Park.

“Not only do we want to provide new equipment, we also want to make access to the park better.

“We also want to improve security as at the moment there’s limited lighting to the park in the evening.

“We’d also like residents’ views on these plans, so we can ensure that the park is a place for everyone to enjoy.”

Southfields Park, which is off Leicester Road, is currently home to a skatepark and parkour park. Under the plans the skatepark could be extended.

The entrances will be improved to make them wider, more attractive and more obvious to passers-by.

The work will be funded by £90,000 from the Council and £122,403 in section 106 agreements, following development in the area.

Residents are being asked for their views on how the park can be improved before the work begins. The consultation is available online at www.charnwood.gov.uk/currentconsultations
