Police at Twinlakes Park following robbery and fire overnight

Police were called to reports of a robbery at 4:40am this morning.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a premises in Melton Spinney Road, near the A607.

Police were called regarding the incident at around 4.40am today (Tues).

It was reported a number of men had approached a man who was in his car outside the premises and made threats towards him. The suspects were armed with what is believed to be a crowbar.

The man was held against his will and the suspects broke into the premises before later leaving the scene. Enquires are ongoing into the items stolen.

The victim is not reported to have suffered serious injuries and remains safe. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and the victim has been taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The building was on fire following the incident. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and the fire was extinguished. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire.

No further injuries have been reported.

A scene preservation is in place and officers remain at the scene carrying out enquiries.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“The victim remains safe and no injuries have been reported. A scene preservation remains in place and officers are in the area as part of the investigation.

“The incident happened during the early morning but we ask anyone who was in the area or who has any information to make contact. Did you see or hear anything which caused you concern? Do you have any dashcam footage from around the area at the time which may be able to assist us? Have you heard anything in connection to the incident which may help our enquiries?

“If you have any information, we urge you to make contact.”

Twinlakes Park confirmed it would remain closed today (Tuesday 27th August) as the police investigation continues.
