Quick thinking from an onlooker leads to fine for fly-tipper in Groby

A fixed penalty notice for £400 was issued and paid within five days.

A dog-walker spotted the owner of a vehicle throwing out six black bags of rubbish into a ditch on Anstey Lane, Groby.

The reported this to the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and managed to capture the registration plate and photo of the car. 

The Council then traced the owner through the DVLA. 

In a Facebook post the Council said:

"We thank the witness for being vigilant and for taking the time to report and complete a statement which allowed us to fine the individuals responsible for this offence.

"Please keep watching and reporting however can we remind residents that you do not need to confront the people carrying out these offences. Just to try to capture at a safe distance simple information such as vehicle registration number, make and model of car, date and time."
