Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a suspected non-stop collision in Coalville.
It happened Monday afternoon in Belvior Road and it's believed to have involved a 33-year-old pedestrian and a grey Vauxhall Astra.
The injured man has life-changing injuries and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
Police remained in the area throughout the evening.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the events which lead up to it.
Detective Inspector Tim Lindley said: “Our enquiries are in their early stages at the moment, and we are piecing together what happened in Belvior Road this afternoon.
“Anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, it’s key that you speak to us. Every little bit of information may prove vital in finding out the course of events which lead to the collision.
“There were a number of cars on the road, so if anyone has dashcam footage of the area, we’d like to hear from you.”
