Three teenagers arrested after fire in Loughborough town centre this morning

The Cancer Research UK branch has fire damage.

Leicestershire Police were called to Market Street in Loughborough at 1 am this morning (18th April) after a fire started.

It was reported to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service that a roof and bin had been set alight.

Leicestershire Police, said: "Two boys aged 17 and a 16-year-old girl were arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries are continuing."

The Cancer Research UK branch on Market Street has fire damage to the front of the shop.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The damage was: 75% severe by fire to the front of the premises and moderate by smoke to the internal of the premises.

"There was a second incident confirming a fire located outside of ‘Party Pieces Coffee House’ Market Street – this consisted of one wheelie bin involved in fire behind the property. "

Richard Waggerman, Divisional Business Manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “We were very saddened to have had to close our Loughborough shop due to smoke damage and we’re grateful for the assistance of our emergency services. We’d like to reassure all our customers and generous donors that we will be up and running again as soon as possible and thank them for their ongoing support.”
