Fifteen lucky children have collected their prizes after conquering Coalville’s Christmas Toy Trail.

With the support of 15 shops and businesses, North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) hid toys all around Coalville in December and asked youngsters to track them all down.

The hidden toys, which included Rapunzel and Fireman Sam, have now been given to 15 of the children that took part. Everyone who completed the trail received a small prize when they handed their finished form in.

NWLDC and local businesses created the toy trail to encourage families to explore businesses and shops in Coalville that they might have never visited before.Toy trail 2

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “Well done to all the children that took part in the toy trail and to all the businesses that were involved in making this a success. We have a big variety of shops in Coalville, if you know where to look, and lots of great independent businesses.

“We want people to choose Coalville when they need to shop, and we hope the positive experience of the toy trail encourages families to out into the town again and support our local businesses.”

The trail also ran in conjunction with the Coalville best dressed window and market stall competition, which saw a record people 640 vote for the winners of the two categories. The Attic in Belvoir Road won the award for the best dressed window in the town, while Rock-A-Billy’s Records landed victory in the best dressed market stall competition.
