Warning from police about scam text

It is related to winter fuel payments.

Leicestershire Police are warning residents about scam texts pretending to be about winter fuel payments.

The force says:" If you have received a text about Winter fuel payments, do not respond. Winter fuel payments are automatic and you do not need to do anything."

The government website states that if you are eligible, you’ll receive a letter in October or November indicating the amount you will receive, and most eligible individuals will be paid in November or December 2025.
