A woman in her 80s was pronounced dead at a property on College Street.
Emergency services were called to College Street at around 9.10am (1st June), following concerns for a woman inside a property.
Officers and paramedics attended, where sadly a woman in her 80s was pronounced dead.
A police cordon has been in-place since this morning and forensics teams were in attendance.
A post-mortem to determine the cause of her death will take place. Police are treating the incident as suspicious.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.
The woman’s next of kin has been informed and is currently being supported by specialist liaison officers.
Det Ch Insp Caroline Corfield from Warwickshire Police said: “An investigation has been launched and a number of enquiries are currently ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of this incident.
“As part of our enquiries, we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area between 7pm last night and 9am this morning.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 94 of 1 June 2021.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this difficult time, and we would ask that their privacy is respected.”
