An 18-year-old man remains in a critical condition.

On Sunday (29 August) police arrested an 18 year-old man after he allegedly failed to stop at the scene of a serious collision in Hinckley.

An 18-year-old man was walking down Castle Street, around 11.40pm on Friday (27 August) when a moped collided with him.  The moped rider failed to stop at the scene, rode down Castle Street and was last seen near The Borough traffic lights, close the Union Inn.

The 18-year-old pedestrian was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop following an injury road traffic collision and failure to report an injury road traffic collision.  He has since been released pending further enquiries.

From enquiries conducted so far it’s believed the moped rider came from the direction of London Road prior to the collision.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the moped being ridden in or around the Castle Street, London Road, The Borough or Regent Street area either before or after the collision.

The moped has been described as having three lights on the front shaped like a triangle with the two at the bottom and one at the top.
