Arrest over Nuneaton bomb hoax

A 100 metre cordon was set up in Nuneaton town centre on Friday 3rd May after reports of a suspicious package.

Warwickshire Police said “On 3 May at around 2:30pm, following the discovery of a suspicious package in a shop on Queens Road in Nuneaton, a 100 metre cordon was established in the town centre while the package was assessed and dealt with by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.”

The package was found to have not been an explosive device, and the cordon was lifted at around 6pm.

A 40-year-old from London has been arrested on suspicion of making a hoax bomb threat.

Police thanked the local community for their patience and assistance while the incident was resolved
