It's been reported it was halted because of a medical emergency.

It's been reported the Atherstone ball game was halted because of a medical emergency.

The shrove Tuesday tradition that's in its 821st year got underway on Long Street in the town.

A social media post from the organisers of the game says "one of their stewards took ill and was seen to immediately by a first responder.

He received the best care on site and that is carrying on at hospital."
