Witnesses alleged that they were all carrying machetes.

A 16-year-old boy from Bedworth has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife this morning (09 August) following an incident from last month.

The incident, which took place in Brights Road on the 18th July, reportedly began when someone on a motorbike was approached by three males in a dark grey Vauxhall Insignia.

It was reported that one of the males was allegedly carrying a machete and attempted to chase the victim.

Warwickshire Police said: "One of the males was allegedly carrying a machete and attempted to chase the victim.

"The victim is alleged to have ridden off on his bike and was pursued by the Vauxhall.

"The pursuit is reported to have stopped when the Vauxhall collided with a Honda Civic on Seven Foot Lane.

"The three occupants of the Vauxhall are said to have fled the scene wearing face coverings. Witnesses alleged that they were all carrying machetes, and there are also reports of a firearm."

Warwickshire Police later found a machete and several bags of cannabis inside the vehicle.

The Vauxhall is believed to have been stolen the day before from Bayton Road in Exhall.

After further investigation, an arrest was made this morning just after 5am. The 16-year-old remains in custody at this time.

Detective Constable Lynch said “Bringing violent thugs who believe they’re untouchable back to reality and the consequences of their actions is what the job’s about.

“Our efforts related to Operation Outfitter, our initiative to tackle youth violence in Nuneaton and Bedworth, are bearing fruit.”
