Body believed to be missing Nuneaton man found by police

A body has been discovered in the search for missing Derek Arnold in a field near Astley Lane near Nuneaton.

Mr Arnold, 71, went missing from his home in Stockinford on 9 June.

A huge search operation by police, search and rescue teams and volunteers has been carried out to find him, and posters had been put up all over the town centre.

At this time the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Owen Fell from Nuneaton CID said: “While we’re awaiting formal identification, at this time we believe the body to be Derek’s. We’ve updated Derek’s family; they have shown great strength since he went missing and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

 “I would personally like to thank everyone who has helped with the search for Derek over the last few weeks; the support shown by the local community has been overwhelming.”
