Due to heavy rainfall over recent weeks, the ground is too waterlogged for the event.

Due to recent weather conditions, the Borough Council have decided to cancel this Sunday’s Burbage Common Open Day (19 May).

Paul Scragg, Senior Green Spaces Officer at the Borough Council said: “The Green Spaces team apologise for the late cancellation, it is a difficult decision to take, particularly to stall holders and everyone who was looking forward to attending the event. We still hope to be able to rearrange it for later in the year, so please look out for any further updates.

“The Common does remain open for visitors for a visit and walk this weekend and the café will be open serving a wide range of refreshments.”

Due to heavy rainfall over recent weeks, the ground is too waterlogged for the event to take place.

The council has said the parking field is particularly wet and will not be dry enough to take the cars.

It is thought that holding the event will likely lead to significant ground damage, particularly to the meadow areas and they don’t want to risk damaging the habitat.
