Individuals and groups who go the extra mile to help make Loughborough bloom have been celebrated at an awards ceremony.
The Loughborough in Bloom It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards took place at John Storer House on Tuesday November 5. The awards showcase the achievements of over 40 community groups and individual gardeners who take part in the It’s Your Neighbourhood competition.
Each group was given a certificate indicating which level in the scheme they had achieved.
The awards were presented by Loughborough in Bloom chair, Marion Smith and handed out by It’s Your Neighbourhood assessor Helen Burgess.
Adam Goodall, green spaces development manager at the Council said: “We always say that Loughborough in Bloom is a community effort and these awards just show how many groups and volunteers are involved with the bloom.
“The It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards is an opportunity to celebrate and say thank you and well done to everyone who gives up their time to help their local communities blossom.”
Loughborough in Bloom also gave a special thank you to the chair Marion Smith and idverde community engagement officer Nicola Clarke.
Loughborough recently struck gold at the national RHS Britain in Bloom finals. The town was also awarded gold at this year’s East Midlands in Bloom awards for the ninth year running.
