Jake Brown, CEO, Avro Energy

Avro Energy ceased trading in September 2021 with 580,000 customers.

The former CEO of an energy company, based in Hinckley, which collapsed in 2021 has apologised to customers.

Avro Energy, which was based on Wheatfield Way, made the announcement on Wednesday 22nd September that they were to cease trading.

The former CEO Jake Brown attended a meeting of the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) committee where MPs asked him about the demise of the business.

Before the meeting closed Darren Jones MP said: "In my view, you should never have been allowed to start an energy company. I find it quite offensive that you have ended up with so much of customers' money and yet not once have you apologised to your customers for the failure of Avro Energy in this session."

CEO Jake Brown of Avro Energy, said: "I want to take the opportunity to apologise to our customers and the whole of energy customers that are now seeing the costs of the failures."

Ofgem announced on the 26th of September that Octopus Energy would take on the 580,000 domestic customers of Avro Energy.
