Changes made to Arriva bus timetables in Hinckley and Nuneaton

There are now more direct connections from Hinckley to Coventry and Leicester.

Arriva have introduced so-called simple fare zones. This means services between Coventry and Nuneaton will be covered by a new ‘Coventry & Nuneaton Zone’ for Day, Week, and longer period season tickets.

Services around Hinckley will continue to be in the ‘Leicestershire ZoneTwo / ZonePlus’ area, valid as far as George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.

Service X6, which operates fast between Coventry, Hinckley and Leicester via the M69, continues to have its own dedicated ticket range.

The company said the changes will make services much reliable and improve journey times.

Below is a route by route details of the changes: 

• 1 | Earl Shilton – Hinckley 
  • We’ve reviewed the route of this service to operate via Tudor Road and Asda to improve coordination with service 2 between Barwell and Hinckley. 
  • Buses in Earl Shilton will operate via Doctor’s Fields and Cedar Road towards Hinckley, restoring the connection from this area to/from the local shops at The Hollow.
• 2 | Barwell – Hinckley
  • There’ll be changes to the timetable of this service to coordinate with service 1 between the town centre, Tudor Road and Asda.
  • Buses in Barwell will operate via Blackburn Road, Fairacre Road, and Stapleton Lane and will not serve The Square. The main stop for Top Town will be opposite the Co-op at the end of Kirkby Road.
• 3 | Three Pots – Hinckley 
  • This service will be replaced by a revised X6, which will continue to provide a connection between Three Pots and the town centre.
• 8 | Hinckley – Lutterworth 
  • We are making changes to the route and timetable of this service to better match the travel patterns of our customers and improve punctuality.
  • Most journeys will now serve the new warehouse development at Hinckley Park, and operate via A5, Coventry Road and Windsor Street between there and Burbage.
  • A limited number of journeys will continue to operate via Lutterworth Road between Hinckley Park and Burbage, to serve the bus stops near Lodge Close.
• 74/74A/74B/74S | Nuneaton – Coventry 
  • There’ll be minor timetable changes to most journeys for this service to improve punctuality. 
• 78/ 78A | Nuneaton – University Hospital 
  • There’ll be minor timetable changes to most journeys for this service to improve punctuality.
• 79 | Nuneaton – Keresley 
  • We’ve reviewed the route of this service to operate via Smorrall Lane, Anderton Road, and Whitburn Road between Bedworth and Bede Village, and not serve Bluebell Drive or Astley Lane. There will be minor timetable changes to most journeys for this service to improve punctuality.
• X6 | Leicester – Coventry 
  • We’ve reviewed the route and timetable of this service to offer new connections for our customers. Off-peak journeys will call at Hinckley Town Centre as well as Three Pots, providing a fast and direct connection to Coventry, Fosse Park, and Leicester via the M69. In addition, a Sunday service will be introduced to this route. 
  • Within Leicester, X6 is a limited stop service, calling only at:
    • To Coventry – Charles Street Stand CJ, Welford Place Stand EP, Nelson Mandela Park Stand 1, Burnmoor Street (for LRI), Noel Street (for West End), Fullhurst Avenue, Rowley Fields Avenue, Fosse Park M&S
    • To Leicester – Fosse Park Sainsbury’s, Narborough Road Jaguar, Fullhurst Avenue, Stuart Street (for West End), Royal Infirmary Stand 1, Charles Street
• X55 | Leicester – Hinckley 
  • There will be some minor changes made to the times of the first and last journeys to help improve punctuality with no changes to the route or frequency.
• X84 | Leicester – Rugby
  • There will be some minor changes made to some journeys to help improve punctuality with no changes to the route or frequency.
