From the 1st August, 3 hours parking will only cost a £1.
The current offer of free parking after 3pm Monday to Friday and free at weekends in Council owned car parks will be changing this week.
From Sunday 11 July, the charges will return to the regular rate for a short period before being lowered to offer visitors and residents better value for money during their stay.
The changes will be as follows:
- 11 July to 1 August – regular charges apply
- 1 August to 30 November – up to 3 hours for £1
- 30 November to 31 January 2022 – free all day
- 1 February to 1 March 2022 – up to 3 hours for £1
Cllr Kristofer Wilson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council was delighted to offer the news, he said:
“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, we desperately need to help kickstart our Borough economy and encourage more people to visit our wonderful town centres and markets. Offering better value car parking is one way we can help to do this.
“I hope the revisions will encourage more people to come and visit and use these facilities, and we hope people will be happy with the changes we are making under the new leadership.”
The cost of this initiative will be in excess of £300,000 according to Council documents.
The emergency budget, of which these car parking changes were part of, will also see postponements to repair works to the Town Hall and cuts to Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery opening times.
