Plans are being drawn up to remember the thousands of people affected by the pandemic in the Borough.
The announcement came as part of the Leader of the Council’s position statement from last night's (22nd June) council meeting.
Stuart Bray said that he had agreed with officers to advance plans to build the memorial.
He added, "The detailed designs are being worked up and will be shared in due course."
The Government's Covid Dashboard said that 233 people in Hinckley and Bosworth had the virus mentioned on their death certificate. There have been 6440 confirmed cases in the Borough to date.
Earlier this week the County and Leicester City Councils formally opened a memorial trail in Charnwood dedicated to those affected in Leicester and Leicestershire.
