There are 550 soldiers at Bramcote Barracks and more than 13,500 veterans in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

A new role has been created at two councils in Warwickshire to support military families in the area.

Faheem Sheikh will work at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and North Warwickshire Council to make sure that families get full access to local services.

The post was created following a successful bid to the Ministry of Defence Covenant Fund, made earlier this year by the two Borough Councils.

This is one of the first posts of this kind in the country, which demonstrates the commitment of the Councils in this area. NBBC has already been awarded a bronze award for the work done so far and the new post will provide the opportunity to take the good work to the next level.

Around 11% of the population of Northern Warwickshire are members of the armed forces community, with there being more than 550 soldiers and families at Gamecock Barracks in Bramcote and in excess of 13,500 of veterans in Nuneaton and Bedworth borough and around 7,000 within the North Warwickshire Borough.
