A new team of Covid-19 community advisors have been appointed to provide support to visitors and businesses in Nuneaton and Bedworth town centres.

They have been funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Reopening High Streets Safely Fund (RHSSF).

The Borough Council says the advisors will help to ensure the safety of all shoppers and town centre visitors by providing members of the public with guidance on social distancing, one-way systems, mask compliance and other COVID-19 measures.

Team members will patrol the public areas in Nuneaton and Bedworth town centres and other high-use areas.

They will also provide support for town centre businesses on Covid-19 secure measures and requirements.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:

“This is great news, I’m sure our town centre visitors and businesses will benefit from the enhanced COVID-19 advisor presence.

“In these difficult times it is good to be able to provide people with support to help them feel safe during a shopping trip, or feel that they have someone to go to for advice if they run a business in the town centre”.

Cllr John Beaumont, Portfolio holder for Planning, Development and Health added:

“Visitors to our towns can feel assured that we are taking lots of measures to keep everyone safe. The community advisors are part of a whole package of measures which have been implemented in our town centres to help them covid-safe and having the advisors on duty will be a great asset.”
