It happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.
At 5.50am yesterday (Sunday 8 August) police were called to London Road in Coalville following a report of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.
Officers attended and found that the car had left the scene. The cyclist, a man, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre to be treated for serious injuries.
The road was closed while emergency services attended and later reopened.
The cyclist remains in hospital at this time and enquiries to locate the car are continuing.
