British Transport Police have confirmed that earlier today at around 11:40 a person was struck by a train close to Hinckley Station, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of writing they could not confirm if the person was male or female. The spokesman added that the track had been closed between Nuneaton and Leicester and might be closed for some time.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around just before noon today 27th June. Police officers and paramedics both attended the incident.
Efforts are now concentrating on trying to identify the deceased and to inform their family.
