Detectives investigating an assault at a popular student venue in Loughborough are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It happened at The Kelso nightclub in Ward's End between 2.20am and 2.30am on Wednesday 1 March.
The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was attacked with a glass object, leaving her with a permanent scar on her face.
A 20-year-old woman from Loughborough was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released under investigation.
Detective Constable Chris Richards, the investigating officer, said: “This was a busy student event where lots of people were present.
“I’m in no doubt that there will have been people in the nightclub who saw what happened. This attack has had a significant psychological impact on the victim.
“This was a serious and unprovoked assault which has left a young girl with permanent scarring. Somebody within the student community knows who did this and it is important that they come forward.
"Please contact DC 3008 Chris Richards at Loughborough Police Station. Information can also be passed to police anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or passing information via the Crimestoppers website: crimestoppers-uk.org”
