Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the road traffic collision.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended an incident on Tuesday (20/05) evening after a suspicious item was found in the rear of the car.
Police received a call to report a road traffic collision in Ashby Road, Barwell.
The vehicle left the road and came to rest in a hedge as the two occupants left the scene.
Officers arrived at the scene and an area search was carried out with the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS), but they were not found.
While the vehicle was being recovered, a suspicious item was found in the rear of the car.
In the interest of public and police safety, a cordon was put in place and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were contacted.
The item was examined and confirmed not to be suspicious and not of concern, and the road was reopened shortly after.
