Firefighters are responding to a fire at a waste disposal site in Hinckley.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 17.12pm to MAC Skip Hire on Leicester Road in Hinckley.
Upon arrival, firefighters said that an industrial shredder and a pile of waste was on fire.
Crews from Hinckley and Southern fire stations are dealing with the fire.
Firefighters have confirmed they had received several calls reporting a large fire and thick black smoke.
A local resident, Jonathan Wightman, who lives nearby told Fosse 107: "We live on the other side of the golf course and the smoke cloud was huge."
Sarah Bryce said: "It stinks! That smell is going to linger for a while."
We have contacted Leicestershire Police and Mac Skip Hire for a comment. There are no reports of any injuries.
