Fresh warnings of bin disruption for more parts of Hinckley and Bosworth

People living in Burbage, Hinckley, Groby and Ratby may not receive a garden waste collection next week.

The disruption will also extend to Bank Holiday Monday (30th August).

Garden waste collections are still going ahead in all areas of the borough next week, however the council continues to warn that it only has sufficient HGV drivers available to complete around 75% of the rounds in Burbage (Monday 25 August), Hinckley (Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August) and Groby and Ratby (Bank Holiday Monday 30 August) which will result in some garden waste collections being missed.

Any garden waste not collected next week cannot be collected until the next scheduled collection days in two weeks’ time.

While the Borough Council has reminded residents that recycling centres remain open, the County Council have themselves warned of their own staff shortages. People are being used to use them only when essential

Matthew Bowers, Director (Environment & Planning) at the Borough Council said: “We apologise to all those customers affected, and assure anyone affected their subscription will be will be extended to cover this disruption.

"Unfortunately due to the ongoing shortage of HGV drivers and driver/crew sickness we just don’t have sufficient staff to complete all the rounds next week or on Bank Holiday Monday.

"Once again we thank you for your patience at this difficult time.”
