Golf club planning application approved

Councillors have approved plans to build a club house and holiday lets at Market Bosworth Golf Club.

Kyngs Golf and Country Club has been closed since 2016 when the previous owner went into liquidation.  

Since 2018 several planning applications for the site have been refused by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. 

In this latest application, developers asked to build a multi-purpose golf club house, a new car parking area and six holiday homes on the site off Station Road. 

The application, which has now been approved, was submitted by Statue Homes which bought the golf course. 

The council's planning committee discussed the latest plans but were told by officers that the application did not relate to the golf course which did not require planning permission to be brought back in to use. 

Councillors were advised to approve the application to build the new club house and holiday lets subject to 27 separate conditions.

Among the conditions: 

"5. Prior to first use of the clubhouse hereby approved, works to reinstate the 18 hole golf course including, drainage, greens and tees shall be completed and brought into use."

"6. The holiday accommodation hereby approved shall not be occupied until the clubhouse has been completed and brought into use.'

"7. The Golf Clubhouse hereby approved shall not be in use, other than between the hours 0700 – Midnight – Monday – Saturday 0800 – 2300 – Sunday" 

Cllr Stuart Bray suggested that the application be approved and the conditions would be signed off at a later date. 

All members of the planning committee voted to approve the plan unanimously. The meeting of the planning committee on 19th May was the first of its kind to take place remotely via video conference due to the coronavirus pandemic.
