How your bin collections will be affected over Christmas

Here's the list of changes that the borough councils have posted.

There are going to be some changes to bin collections between now and the New Year.

Here are the details from local borough councils about their plans to collect your Christmas waste.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council
There will be alternate arrangements for refuse (black bin) and recycling (blue-lid bin) collections due on Monday 26 December, Tuesday 27 December 2022 and Monday 2 January 2023.

• Refuse due on Monday 26 December will be collected on Friday 23 December
• Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday 26 December will be collected on Thursday 22 December.
• Refuse due on Tuesday 27 December will be collected on Wednesday 28 December
• Recycling (blue-lid) due on Tuesday 27 December will be collected on Thursday 29 December.
• Refuse due on Monday 2 January will be collected on Friday 30 December
• Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday 2 January will be collected on Tuesday 3 January

For residents living in rural west areas of the borough who usually have garden and refuse bins collected on the same day, collection arrangements are as follows:

• Refuse due on Monday 26 December will be collected on Friday 23 December
• Refuse due on Tuesday 27 December will be collected on Wednesday 28 December Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday 2 January will be collected on Tuesday 3 January.

The garden waste (brown bin) collection service will be suspended for two weeks during the Christmas and New Year period (last collection Tuesday 20 December and collections start again Wednesday 4 January.

There will be no collections of large items (bulky waste) between Monday 19 December and Monday 2 January with collections recommencing on Tuesday 3 January.

Charnwood Borough Council

The Christmas period will see no changes to waste and recycling collections this year.

Please continue to ensure your bin is out by 6 am on your collection day.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council

Bins due to be collected on Monday 26 December will be collected on Saturday, 24 December instead.

Households should present their bin for collection the day before.

All other collections remain unaffected.

North West Leicestershire District Council

From Tuesday 20 December 2022 to Friday 13 January 2023, there will be changes to waste collection schedules.

Garden bin collections, including the additional garden waste service, will be suspended between 20 December and 13 January 2023.

Orders for bulky waste collections are also closed until the New Year. 

Households will keep their normal collection days for recycling and receive three consecutive black bin collections through the period.

Bins and recycling containers should continue to be out for collection by 6am.
