Man in hospital following assault in Hinckley

A man remains in hospital following an assault in Hinckley during the early hours of Saturday morning (3 August).

The incident is reported to have happened at around 3.20am in Regent Street when the victim was assaulted by two other men.

During the incident, which happened in an alleyway near the road’s junction with George Street, the victim was punched and kicked to the face.

The two suspects then ran away from the scene after another member of the public intervened.

The victim, who is in his 20s, went home before going to hospital where he currently remains. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Enquires are ongoing into the incident and officers are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact.

Detective Constable Alison Barnes said: “This was a serious assault on a young man. Please think back to if you were in Hinckley during the early hours of Saturday and if you can help us.

“Did you see the incident take place or events following it? Or have you heard anything in relation to it? Or do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time which may assist our investigation? Please check this and make contact with us if you can help.”
