It happened during England's defeat against Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

Shortly after 10pm on Sunday 11 July, police were called to High Street following a report that a man in his 50s had been seriously assaulted at the premises in Main Street.

The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. As a result of initial enquiries, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and possession of cocaine. He has since been released under investigation.

PC Abigail Barker, the investigating officer, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in the pub while the match was taking place and who saw what happened but has not yet come forward. From enquiries carried out so far, I know that there were a number of people who witnessed this incident.

“Some of these people may have travelled to the pub from the Nottinghamshire area and I believe they may have information that could help my investigation.

“Any details you’re able to provide – no matter how insignificant you think they may be – could assist us further.”
