“This was a particularly concerning set of incidents and thankfully, Bennett is now off the street and behind bars."

A man has been jailed for more than six years after admitting two robberies and one attempted robbery in Nuneaton.

Jack Bennett entered a store on Galley Common in Nuneaton, brandishing a knife before making off with the contents of the till in May.

Then two days later, he went into a store on Kingswood Road in Nuneaton where he threatened the shopkeeper with a knife and demanded the contents of the till. The shopkeeper refused and Bennett then fled the scene.

Later the same day, Bennett entered a salon with a knife and made off with the contents of the till.

Detective Constable Sam Hughes said: “This was a particularly concerning set of incidents and thankfully, Bennett is now off the street and behind bars.

"I hope this will some comfort to the victims after what was no doubt distressing incidents for them. Warwickshire Police does not tolerate and will robustly deal with any such incidents.

“I also hope that Bennett uses this time to reflect on his behaviour and that this sentence not only acts as a deterrent to others but goes some way to reassuring the public that we will always prioritise bringing offenders to justice where possible and protecting our communities from harm.”

On Friday (8 July), having pleaded guilty to all counts, Bennett, of no fixed abode, appeared at Warwick Crown Court where he was jailed for six years and two months.
