Detectives are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman walking their dog in the area.

Police have issued a new appeal for witnesses and information in connection with a rape which happened in Nuneaton two weeks ago.

The incident happened on the canal towpath between Borough Way and Frank Street between 6.30 pm and 7.15 pm on Tuesday 21 June.

Detectives are particularly keen to identify and speak to a man and a woman walking their dog in the area. The dog is described as being either white, or black and white and the woman may have spoken briefly to the suspect.

Another couple and a man described as being in his 60s were seen walking in the area and may have seen the suspect or witnessed the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Teresa McKenna from the Warwickshire Police Major Investigation Unit said: “We continue to investigate this incident and are appealing for anyone who was on the towpath or the surrounding area between these times to contact us if you haven’t already. We’re especially keen to identify and speak to these two couples.

“We’re also keen to speak to anyone who was driving on the surrounding roads who has dash cam footage.”

The victim – a woman in her 20s – continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

A 17-year-old boy from Nuneaton arrested on suspicion of rape remains on police bail.

Anyone with information is asked to provided this to officers by calling 101 quoting incident 106 of 28 June 2022.
