This will bring MRI facilities and CT scans to the town.

A bid for a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at the Hinckley Hospital has been successful which means new healthcare facilities are coming to the town.

The CDC unit will include facilities for MRI and CT scans to be carried out at the Hinckley and District Hospital, as well as ultrasound. X-Rays and blood testing.

Dr Luke Evans MP said “I am absolutely delighted to have supported the bid by Hinckley and District Hospital and to hear that their application for a Community Diagnostic Centre in Hinckley has been successful.

“This is fantastic news for our community and, given healthcare in our area is an issue I am frequently contacted about, I know that the CDC unit will be welcomed by people in Hinckley and neighbouring villages.

“Bringing MRI facilities, CT scans and the ability to conduct blood testing in Hinckley will save local people time and bolster healthcare provisions in our area.

“I’ve already heard from the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (LLR ICB) and am pleased to hear they are moving quickly on this and will be providing the opportunity to all constituents to be involved in developing the plans.”

Local Liberal Democrats have also welcomed the news that local NHS facilities are to be upgraded but they have said that the upgrades are not enough.

Cllr Michael Mullaney said "For years local Conservatives have promised an NHS Walk-in Centre similar to what they have in Nuneaton. Of course, any upgrade to local facilities is to be welcomed but this falls well short of what we expected.

"This upgrade is long overdue. Only three years ago Hinckley's X-ray Machine was condemned as unsafe for NHS staff to use.

"Once again we are being taken for granted by the Tory government. Our growing population needs top-quality NHS facilities including a Walk-in Centre or Minor Injuries Unit.

"If it's good enough for Nuneaton our people have the right to expect it too."
