The festive season is fast approaching and this years magical Christmas light switch-on events take place in just a few weeks’ time!

Bulkington is first to light up on Tuesday 21 November at 6pm, followed by Bedworth on Saturday 25 November at 5pm and Nuneaton on Sunday 26 November at 5pm. There will be entertainment on the day at each location, from 11am in both Bedworth and Nuneaton and from 4pm in Bulkington. Santa will be joining the Mayor at each event to switch on the lights.

Cllr Dennis Harvey, Leader of the Borough Council, said:

“Our popular Christmas Lights celebrations mark the countdown to Christmas here in the Borough and this year’s events are looking especially exciting.

“As always, we can promise some fantastic entertainment and a wonderful family atmosphere at each venue. The events are always popular and everyone is invited! It’s a wonderful chance to bring residents together from right across the Borough for the first glimpse of Christmas.”

The Bedworth and Nuneaton events will be marked by magnificent firework displays and the entertainment in both town centres will include fairground rides, a mini land train, plus appearances from local dance and theatre groups. Look out for the elf on stilts too!

There will be much music in the air everywhere - in Nuneaton we’ll be treated to the sounds of the Von Winkler Bavarian Band and with the annual Folk Festival in full swing in Bedworth, we’re certainly guaranteed a lively atmosphere. For the first time there will also be an array of street food and drinks, bringing a taste of the exotic to the festivities.

The Bulkington celebrations include local entertainers and dance troupes, community carol singing and the Bulkington Silver Band, alongside a fantastic array of charity stalls and fairground rides.

Further information about all three switch-on events can be found on the Council’s website, alongside details of this year’s traditional family pantomime, Mother Goose, at The Civic Hall in Bedworth (2-29 December).
