Officers recovered the drugs, which were later found to be cocaine.

A man from Nuneaton who tried to flush cocaine down a pub toilet moments before he was arrested has been jailed for almost three years.

Officers were driving along Broad Street in Brinklow on 8 May 2024 when they spotted a car known to be connected to drug dealing.

The driver stopped but the passenger - Dylan Whitty - jumped out and ran towards a nearby pub where he dropped a plastic bag containing a white powder in the women’s toilets.

Dylan Whitty, of Julius Way, Nuneaton also tried - and failed - to flush some smaller bags of powder down the toilet.

Officers recovered the drugs, which were later found to be cocaine, and Whitty was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – cocaine.

Having pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing, he was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday (2 December) to two years and ten months in prison.

He was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £228 and had almost £200 in cash forfeited.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jake Wheldon, said: “Whitty was naïve to think he could simply flush the drugs down the toilet and the problem would be gone.

“It’s drugs like these that truly cause misery in our communities, so I’m delighted they’re now off the streets and I hope Whitty takes time in prison to reflect on his actions.

“Above all, I hope his sentence goes some way to reassure the public we will proactively target those we believe to be involved in drugs, use our powers to disrupt any activity and bring offenders to justice where we can.”
