Thousands of painted stones celebrating the life of Isla Tansey from Hinckley have been removed from Argents Mead.

On Friday 27th July a whole town gathered to remember a seven-year-old girl who died from a rare form of childhood cancer.

Isla Tansey from Hinckley took ill less than a year before the huge celebration in the town to remember her. She created a campaign called Isla's Stones which attracted well over 70,000 fans online and encouraged people to paint, hide and find the stones to spread the message about childhood cancers.

Isla's dream was to be famous and as news of her death circulated, people left stones, balloons and flowers at Hinckley town centre band stand in Argent's Mead.

A celebration for Isla was held on Friday 27th July, shortly after a family funeral, where thousands attended. Fosse 107 played Isla's playlist of favourite songs to those gathered to remember her.

People who attended were asked to take away four stones and rehide them to continue Isla's legacy.

One follower of Isla has posted on social media to show the final stone being removed from the band stand following the celebration:

Suzanne Walker posted on Isla's facebook page: "Unfortunately, we had to clear the bandstand this morning due to forthcoming events in the mead. So I thought it would be poignant to take a picture of the last stone being removed and how empty and sad it now looks, but show another picture of how we will all remember it, breathtakingly beautiful and smiley. Isla Smiler’s legacy will live on. Keep posting, painting and hiding everyone."

Isla's mother Katherine, her father Simon and her brother Harrison were all at Friday's celebration and thanked the acts, performers and public for attending.
