A project to inspire people in Leicestershire to consider a career in adult social care has been shortlisted for a regional award.
Inspired to Care has been nominated in the Care Innovator Award category of the East Midlands Great British Care Awards.
The awards recognise exceptional entrepreneurial skills in identifying, developing, implementing and establishing a new service; or the launch of a new product or administrative system. The innovation has to benefit staff, businesses and users of the service.
Since it launched in July, Inspired to Care has had a positive impact in the social care sector.
“The nomination is a testament to the team’s hard work and passion. Inspired to Care not only gives people new ways to develop and learn new skills, but also encourages future generations to consider careers in social care.
Person:Councillor Richard Blunt, cabinet member for adult social care
Inspired to Care is a website for people to explore the different types of social care roles available, to meet a growing demand for care.
We invested in the Inspired to Care programme and website to help develop the workforce in the care sector, by:
- improving the sector’s image;
- developing and retaining current staff; and
- attracting new staff.
The East Midlands awards ceremony is being held on Friday, 1 November at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.
If Inspired to Care win the category, then the scheme will go through to the national awards early next year.
