The 5-screen cinema, live performance space, café, bar and community hub will open at the Grayson Place town centre redevelopment in Nuneaton.

The Really Local Group have been confirmed as the company that is going to run the cinema and event space opening in Nuneaton.

The 5-screen cinema, live performance space, café, bar and community hub will open at the Grayson Place town centre redevelopment in Nuneaton.

Really Local Group’s vision is to renew spaces in order to ‘put the heart back into the high street’, and the company provides inclusive and affordable venues for communities.

This will be Really Local Group’s first major project outside London and the South East.

Cllr Kris Wilson, Leader of the Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, said: “The regeneration of Grayson Place delivers on the Council’s vision of breathing life into the town centre and creating a vibrant new destination for people to visit for multiple different reasons throughout the day. Working with Really Local Group on their first major project outside London and the South East demonstrates the scale of the Council’s ambition to create a bustling town centre – paving the way for a wealth of business opportunities and additional housing development and infrastructure.

“More than your usual high street cinema, this space will be used throughout the day for co-working and events. It will be a natural meeting place to grab a coffee or drink and catch up with friends, or for community groups to use as they need. This will help rejuvenate Nuneaton’s high street and bring a sense of community back to the town centre. Their arrival, combined with the creation of a new Hampton by Hilton hotel, due to complete in 2024, will bring visitors and residents back to the heart of Nuneaton and bolster the economy.”

Abbey Street’s newest development has been named Grayson Place in tribute to the late entertainer Larry Grayson who lived in Nuneaton.

The development includes a 145-room hotel, a food hall, a 5-screen cinema, as well as housing, workspace, education facilities and a multi-storey car park.

The new name was chosen by the local community in a consultation.

Larry Grayson was a prominent comedian, entertainer and national TV personality in the 1970s and 1980s.

Preston Benson, Founder of Really Local Group, added: “We are delighted to be bringing a Really Local Group venue to Nuneaton. It is our mission to create cultural and community venues in the heart of local high streets, with and for the local community. As part of our ethos, we recruit directly from the communities we are serving and engage with the local arts clubs and community groups already in the area to embed ourselves in all things Nuneaton and bolster the local economy. Our venue will be a place for people to watch, eat, relax, work, drink and experience; bringing creativity and people back to the centre of town. We hope this new space will act as a positive catalyst for further transformation in the area and is a vital step in creating a new destination for Nuneaton and wider Warwickshire community.”
