The incident happened where The Long Shoot meets the A5.
Two people who intervened when a man was being threatened by a group of teenagers have been asked to get in touch with the police.
On Friday at around 6 pm a man in his 30s was riding between Nuneaton and Hinckley when thieves attempted to take his moped.
As he approached the traffic lights where The Long Shoot meets the A5, he was reportedly boxed in by five unknown people who were travelling on two mopeds.
The group threatened him and tried to take the moped before two men got out of a passing car and intervened.
The police now want to speak to these people as witnesses.
It is also understood that a bus – believed to be the Ariva 158 Saphire – was going past at the time of the incident.
The group are described as all male and around 16 to 18 years old. One is thought to have been wearing full biking gear while the others were wearing face masks.
Officers also want to hear from anyone who was on the bus, who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage of the incident.
