New benches have been installed at Hinckley's war memorial.
WITH the centenary of the end of the First World War only a year away, two special war memorial benches have been installed at Hinckley War Memorial in time for Remembrance Sunday.
The benches commemorate each of the world wars, with one including a white dove of peace in the design and the other incorporating red poppies.
Councillor Russ Roberts, the council's Armed Forces Champion, said: “These two commemorative benches are a welcome addition to Hinckley’s War Memorial. They provide additional space where members of the public can sit, reflect and pay their respects to our fallen heroes.”
Similar benches have already been installed at Barwell War Memorial and the hope is that other parishes around the borough will have these special benches installed in time for Remembrance Sunday in 2018.
