Wistow Maze will not open in 2020

The tourist attraction says it can’t comply with social distancing rules.

Wistow Maze, which opens every summer from July to September to thousands of visitors, will be closed in 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the attraction has taken the difficult decision not to open Wistow Maze this year.

“It seemed impossible to us to ensure public safety and social distancing with 3 miles of pathways that are only 1.5m wide.” Diana Brooks told Fosse107.

“We had to make the decision now, as a maze design needs to be created, GPS co-ordinates worked out for mapping the pathways, the field prepared and the maize crop drilled, with all the associated expenditure that goes with it. Latest advice it will be many weeks/months before large ticketed tourist attractions can be re-open.”

In 2018, Wistow Maze was created in the shape of an ambulance to pay tribute to the NHS.

The attraction says it looks forward to welcoming visitors again in 2021.
