It happened in the area of Blaby Road.
Leicestershire police received a report at 7.45 last night of a number of men reported to be in possession of guns in vehicles in the area of Blaby Road, Enderby.
A number of gunshots were reported to have been heard.
In the interests of public and officer safety, armed officers have been deployed to the scene.
Two people have been taken to hospital as a result of the gunshots being fired.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Road closures are in place in the area while enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Officers remain in the area gathering information and offering reassurance to residents.
