Armed police called to Nuneaton town centre

They had received reports of a man injured on Vicarage Street.

At 6.57am this morning (Monday 12 July) armed police were spotted around Coton Road, outside the former council house in the town centre. 

The man had sustained facial injuries, believed to have been caused by an assault.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault (Actual Bodily Harm) and criminal damage.

He is currently in custody.

Police said it is currently being treated as an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.
