The road race, due to take place on Sunday, was cancelled because of the bad weather forecast.
The organisers of the Ashby 20 race that was due to take place on Sunday 18th March say it will not take place this year.
It was cancelled on Friday because of the forecast of further bad weather.
An announcement on the Ashby20 website said the organisers are working to assess the financial implications of the decision to cancel and would communicate what level of refund would be offered in the coming week.
The organisers said: "Due to the specific timing of the event ahead of Spring marathons, and the complexity and time involved in organising an event of this scale, regrettably the event WILL NOT be rescheduled. We are unable to offer deferrals to next year."
Organisers thanked the public for the support and said the decision to cancel was a "tough decision." They urged runners not to attempt to run the course regardless as it would be unsafe to do so without the proper road closures.
Ashby 20 is a 20 mile road race in and around Ashby.
