Loughborough is aiming for another gold award

Loughborough in Bloom judging took place this week.

The East Midlands in Bloom judges visited the town on Thursday, 10 July and were given a tour around the Outwoods, Forest Road Greenbelt, Loughborough University and Queen’s Park.

Pat Cook, Loughborough in Bloom chair, said: “I would like to thank all our volunteers, community groups and partners who work tirelessly all year round to make sure the town looks its glorious best.

“It was really pleasing to welcome the East Midlands in Bloom judges and to be able to showcase our fantastic open spaces and community projects. Fingers crossed for another top award!”

This year’s Loughborough in Bloom portfolio includes projects such as a free tree giveaway, an interactive woodland walk and a poignant poppy display ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s lead member for open spaces, waste and leisure facilities, said: “We take great pride in our open spaces in Charnwood and it was great to be able to welcome the East Midlands in Bloom judges to Loughborough.

“There’s so much work that takes place to maintain our parks and green spaces to the highest standard and I would like to thank everyone involved in the maintenance of them including the Council’s open spaces partner, idverde, and our waste contractor, Serco.”
