Three leisure centres in Loughborough, Syston and Mountsorrel are under new management.
Serco Leisure and Leisure Solutions Community Trust have taken over the operation of the centres with the Council saying it is looking forward to working together for the benefit of customers and communities in the coming years.
All three sites will operate under Serco Leisure’s customer-facing brand MORE Leisure, with each centre having new-look websites.
Serco Leisure and Leisure Solutions Community Trust have taken over from Fusion Lifestyle which entered administration earlier this year.
Cllr Jewel Miah, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said:
"Residents were rightly concerned when they heard about Fusion going into administration. The threat of closure was very real. However, we have worked with the administrators to ensure minimal disruption, and I am pleased we have secured a new operator.”
Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s Lead Member for Leisure Facilities, said: “
We are delighted to see Serco Leisure and Leisure Solutions Community Trust now in place and operating our leisure centres. We have worked hard and focused on ensuring the transition has been smooth for customers and centre users, and hopefully we have achieved that. Now we can start looking to the future. The centres are incredibly popular and important to our communities as they help so many people stay healthy and active.”
Steve Lawrence, CEO of Leisure Solutions Community Trust, said:
“This is an exciting time for Leisure Solutions Community Trust, as we begin our journey supporting new colleagues and customers at each of the three centres. Our focus now is on ensuring we deliver the safe, accessible and customer-focused services the residents of this borough expect and deserve.”
The Council has also reiterated its commitment to investing in leisure provision, with work due to start over the summer on a £3 million project to install a new heating system at Loughborough Leisure Centre which will significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
