A Bedworth community dance group has secured £500 in council funding to help keep its popular weekly social evenings going for another 12 months.
Bedworth Dancing Social has received a grant from the Warwickshire County Council Councillors’ Grant Fund, helping to secure the future of the group and its Monday evening dance sessions.
The group brings people together at Bedworth Ex-Service Club for evenings of live music, sequence and line dancing.
The funding will help towards the cost of hiring the room and providing live music, with other county councillors in the area also contributing from their grant allocations.
Cllr George Finch, Leader of Warwickshire County Council and local member for Bedworth Central, awarded £500 from his allocation of the fund for 2026/27.
He said he was delighted to support the group, describing it as an example of how local activities can bring people together and strengthen community connections.
Sandra Ibberson, from Bedworth Dancing Social, said the grant would allow the club to continue its evenings of dancing and live music.
She said members travel from across the area to enjoy socialising, exercise and friendship, adding that people of all abilities are welcome, whether they attend alone or as a couple.
Another member, Julie Green, said the group plays an important role in supporting people's social, physical and mental wellbeing.
She described the funding as a "huge lifeline", removing the worry of running out of money over the next 12 months.
