Flooding experts to visit Loughborough homes

Flood-hit residents in the Loughborough area could have home visits from flood prevention experts this week

On Thursday 27th and Friday 28th November, between 10am- 2pm and 4pm- 6pm, county council flood officers will be knocking on doors to offer advice to those affected by flooding. They will be joined by representatives from the Environment Agency and Severn Trent Water.

Officers will be identifiable by their county council ID cards and are available to discuss flood preparedness and insurance for the home, how to contact key agencies and find out the latest developments on flood prevention work in the area.

In January, heavy rainfall brought widespread flooding to Leicestershire, with Charnwood having some of the worst affected areas.

Adam Tilbury, Lead Member for Flooding, said: “As anyone who’s been affected by flooding will know, the impact can be absolutely devastating.

“With flooding instances on the rise, we all need to be prepared. I’d urge Loughborough residents to stop and chat with officers to learn how best to protect your home or business this winter.”
