A free UV light art exhibition is bringing a splash of fluorescent colour to Hinckley this autumn, with family activities during half-term.
A new art exhibition featuring glowing artworks is on show at the Atkins Gallery in Hinckley.
Ultra Vibrant runs until Friday 13 November, with visitors able to explore artworks transformed by ultraviolet, or blacklight, lighting.
The exhibition is free to visit and includes work by local artists, with a specially created soundtrack produced by music students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s Hinckley Campus.
During half-term week, from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October, younger visitors can also create their own blacklight-inspired artwork using black paper and fluorescent paint sticks. Glowing bracelets will also be available while stocks last.
New lighting at the Atkins Gallery, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has made it possible to explore different exhibition styles.
Local artist Mary Dennis said working with neon paints had presented a new challenge, but she was grateful for the opportunity and hopes to use fluorescent colours in future work.
Fellow artist Vee Price has created Happy Spaceman, a colourful space-inspired piece using spray paints and neon colours.
Councillor Mark Bools, Deputy Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said the exhibition was a new experience for the gallery and encouraged families to take advantage of the free entry and activities.
The Atkins Gallery, inside Atkins Building, is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. An additional evening viewing will take place on Wednesday 4 November, from 5pm until 8pm.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
